The process of becoming a Team UP Chicago rider is simple and straight forward. Simply follow the following steps:
1) Register For the Event
Register for the event by visiting the Registration page. Here you will be asked to answer a few simple questions like Name, Email, Phone Number, Etc. and your selection for Ride length (25 Miles, 50 Miles, Etc.) and your Pledge Amount (the amount of money you are setting as a goal to raise before the event). Don’t forget to click the “Send” button to get the process in motion.
2) Your “Donation Widget” is Created
We will create your personal PayPal widget including your personal pledge amount. You can use this page to sent to your friends and family so they can sponsor you on your quest to support this great cause. As people donate to sponsor you the PayPal widget will show your financial progress and eventually the final amount raised by your efforts.
3) Train for the Event
If you select one of the longer bike rides you should train in the weeks and months leading up to the event. The shorter rides like the 25 mile cycling route is very laid back, ride at your own pace and enjoy the scenery.
4) Show Up at Your Designated Time
The day of the event make sure you show up at the start line and check in with one of the events organizers. Check-in will begin at 6:00 am on the day of the ride, Sunday September 23rd. Century, Diamond Century (70 miles), and Metric-Century (62 miles, 100 km) riders must check-in by 9:00 am. All others may check-in until 11:00 am. The event organizers will instruct you on last minute details for your ride at check-in time.
5) Enjoy the Ride
